Devils Den, California: Old Farmhouse

Devils Den, California: Old Farmhouse

This place took a beating.  Imagine an abandoned farmhouse with some of its walls punched out.  Picture many remaining household items, such as clothes, furniture, other living objects, all strewn about the dirty floors.  Imagine horse manure in every room, suggesting that the house is now an equine party stable for the animals at night.  This is the old, abandoned farmhouse that I saw in Devils Den, California near dusk, with the sky completely overcast.  There was a melancholy feel to the place:  not necessarily a feeling of being haunted, but of merely being lost or despairing

But as long as the horses were having fun, right?

There's no place like home....
Quarter view.
A discarded shoe. Why do shoes and gloves keep cropping up in these abadoned sites?
The side of the house.
From the back. Looks like part of the livingroom.
Did a tornado pass through here?
A bedframe and other debris.
A dead couch sitting on splinterred floorboards.
The inside of the house was completely trashed.
The demolished kitchen, with daylight streaming in.
Another view of the kitchen countertop.
Christmas lights and a doorknob. Slim leavings.
With horse dung everywhere, in every room of the house.
One of the back rooms.
The bathtub. Why does the faucet area remind me of an Aztec portrait?
Could that be spattered blood on the wall?
The bathroom sink.
A view from the far side of the house.
